Nature-Based Therapy

“There are potentially higher functioning states in which our perception becomes intensified, we experience an increased sense of connection to nature and to other human beings, become more compassionate and altruistic, have a wider sense of perspective, live more authentically, and so on.”  – Psychology Today

Nature-Based Therapy is all about Connection – to self, to the senses, to the world around us of which we are an inextricable part.

It is a re-membering of where we came from and where these bodies will return to.

This may entail sitting by the water, hiking in the mountains, listening to the breeze, lying down on a large boulder and gazing at the clouds, or simply leaning back against a tree in the park for a little while.

Cedar, Rose, Stone, Creek, Wind, Rain, Hawk, Bear, Cricket, Snake. They all have gifts for us, reminders of our wild nature and our belonging to the great Web of Life.

Nature-Based Therapy is an integral thread of Transpersonal Psychology and can be a powerful partner on your journey.

“Wherever you stand, be the Soul of that place.” ~Rumi

Nature is also a wonderful place to hold Ceremony. There are pivotal points in our lives, both great and small, that tap us on the shoulder and ask for acknowledgment.

Designing and performing your own ceremony is a very personal and very powerful way to express gratitude and reverence during these significant times.

Whether you’re ready to let go of something that no longer serves you, call in a new way of being, celebrate a milestone, or grieve a loss, Ceremony invites us to pause, be present, and honor our experience.

“Wildness reminds us what it means to be human, what we are connected to rather than what we are separate from.”

~Terry Tempest Williams
